Trademe - major outages & other screwups

Irrational behaviour and incomprehensible decisions 101 - this is the place. If they're really silly, you could win a chocolate fish.* (* Highly unlikely and they're only virtual chocolate fish)

Hi there,

Due to a processing error, Pay Now payments were not made last night as scheduled. These payments will now be made tonight, Wednesday 6 July.

We endeavour to make payments on the following business day, but unfortunately this is not always possible. We recommend you allow up to three business days for processing of payments.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Please contact us if you would like more information.

Regards,

Trade Me Support
Not the first time thats happened.
Highly unlikely it will be the last time either.
Even More unlikley TM will include in the payments the interest they collected from having our money sitting in their bank for an extra day.

Isn`t there supposed to be laws as to how long a bussiness can hold funds into their account before paying out?.
I`m sure Staff Stuff-ups would not be any excuse.

So many silly bugs...

1 - Enter the `My Products` page avaliable from the `My Trademe` page.
2 - Click the `edit` link in the `Product folders` pane on the left hand side of the Screen
3 - The folders page that opens has a path link at the top: "My Trade Me > Selling > My Products"
4 - Click on the "selling" link and you get:
Server Error403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
TM have entered the link as
http://www.trademe.co.nz/MyTradeMe/Sell/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

instead of the correct
http://www.trademe.co.nz/MyTradeMe/Sell/Current.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's very sloppy coding. But be careful Googlybear... or you'll be offered a job at TM before you know it.

From about 2am and till now TM has very limited access - pages load ages, and this message
The connection has timed out
The server at http://www.trademe.co.nz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is taking too long to respond.

appears often. Pictures lost from listings and entire categories.

No problems with other sites, local or overseas.

i`ve just hit a bizarre problem with Firefox.

when editing an auction and i click the link to change the category, instead of the category selector coming up, i get taken straight to the last `confirm auction` page.

at first i thought it was another TM problem but every thing is OK when i use internet exploder.
thing is i cant see how a bug in firefox could cause this problem.

it could be possible TM system is running a different piece of code if it detects the browser is Firefox (this is usually done for compatibility reasons) and it that code that is sending me to the incorrect Webpage.

are there any other firefox users that have the same problem?

FireFox 3.6.22 here.
Just tried to edit my own listing, starting from "change category" - no problems, all the usual set of pages.

seems to be working OK now with Firefox however the category page seems to take a long time to load so it may just be another temporary server problem.

all pages result in...
Oops, there was a slip up!

Something went wrong (banana error 500). Please go back and try again, or use the browse links below.

Sorry, folks. Our banana error maintenance team are working on the problem, and will get it sorted soon.

Not sure how long TM have screwed this one up...

With Expired Auction searches such as

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchR ... region=100" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

None of the "All | Buy Now All | New | Used All | Pay Now " Filters work :roll:

Trademe Sports
http://www.trademe.co.nz/sports" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

http://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/wetsuits-lifejackets" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
1575 listings
complete strangeness.
Why is it the only category?
if you view the same category from the home page it shows the correct listing Qty
http://www.trademe.co.nz/category_index.htm#Sports" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

it was correct back in July last year so one can only think what TM have done.

i have lost count of how many bugs are in the "my Products" system.

The latest one is when i click on "update auction" after editing a live product template

Image

(1) The end date is valid, Its set to 2 day duration.
(2) i did not even change the duration during editing
(3) how on earth is it even possible to set the end date in the past??

Yet MORE `My Products` Bugs...

1 - Create a My Products Auction and Make it live.
2 - Wait a couple of minutes and then go and click the Products template link to enter the edit auction page
3 - Change some of the shipping options.
4 - Select the "Update my current auction where possible" option before clicking the update auction button

View the updated auction and You will see the shipping options have not been updated.

There` another TM Bug, this time when offering FPO`s

If you list an auction with the `Allow authenticated traders only to bid` option selected and you then attempt to offer a fixed price offer to the watchers, TM will warn you if any watchers are not authenticated by placing bold text "Not authenticated" next to the traders name.

If a trader on the watchlist has been blacklisted by you, TM also gives a warning by placing "Blacklisted" next to the traders username on the FPO page .

However if a Trader is both not authenticated AND has been Blacklisted, then the FPO page only warns you that the trader is unauthenticated.

Thats something you need to watch if you decide to allow a FPO to a user who is not authenticated.
It took me many months to figure out how i managed to make an offer to someone who was on my blacklist.

Another `my products` fail

Create a new my product item with normal start, reserve and buy now and make it live.
edit the template to change the auction Price type to `Add a Quantity to this Listing`
Click the "update my current auction where possible` Option before clicking the Update Auction Button and you get
