i was sold a pirated dvd on trade me

Fake copies of Microsoft Office, operating systems, memory cards and flash drives, fake designer clothing... anything of that nature. At any given time TM offers thousands of fake itmes which breach their terms & conditions... and often do little about the problem. This is the place to discuss the issue.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... 1333412248

what is disturbing the dude has over 5000 feedbacks and multiple DVD listings despite being reported to TM.

i guess not a lot of people can spot counterfeit (or don't care as long as it's cheap)

here is the item

Hi Ramil and welcome to ScamBusters. Sorry to hear you've been ripped off with a pirated DVD. I had a similar thing happen about three years ago when I bought a Breaking Bad DVD on TradeMe. The Invercargill-based seller was listing dozens of copies of DVDs and was obviously making a good income from ripping off other people's work. I contacted NZFACT (the NZ Federation Against Copyright Theft -- now called the NZ Screen Association) via email to report the seller, and guess what. They never even got back to me.

When the organisation which supposedly polices copyright theft is that slack, it's hardly surprising that TradeMe is full of pirated DVDs.

Incidentally your seller has previously complained about buying pirated DVDs on this TradeMe auction. His feedback includes a red face for this trade, to which he responded.
sweus is a crook - trying to illegally sell pirated burned dvds. my 'threat' was to inform trademe and the authorities who police such dispicable behaviour. he doesn't appear to get that what he is doing is criminal and has packed a sad because he has been called on his offensive activities and has clearly violated trademe conditions. DANGER WARNING WARNING DANGER!!!
I'm sure you can see the irony here.

thank you for this....up to today, he maintains that he didn't sell a pirated DVD

funny, he sold hundreds of DVDs, claimed to have worked for the movie industry and he doesn't know what a counterfeit one is

at this point, i don't care about the money lost. it's just loose change.

do you think it's worth it to bring it to the disputes tribunal to stop his illegal activities?

No. The minimum filing fee is around $70 so you'd have to be feeling generous.
