New malware variation - CVs

Post by digidog » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:56 pm

Every now and then people send me CVs, even though my website says we have no vacancies. But recently there's a new scam variant doing the rounds which pretends to have a CV attached to emails. They all look like this.
Hi, my name is Augustine Petersen
Please find my resume from attach section. Kindly give me a reply

Thank you,
Augustine
Of course the attached zip file contains malware. I'll keep updating the sender addresses here so Google can keep a record them.

CV scam addresses
Augustine <AugustinePetersen@gwdg.de>
Rickey <RickeyNolan@nfdcndk.com>

When they are focussed like this it suggests a spear phising attempt.

Who have you upset lately, a fat German perhaps?
Google, the answer to so many questions!

Nah! I'm one of those people who think the fat german has been hard done by. Treating someone like a terrorist for copyright infringement? The whole thing reeks of Key and the boys sucking up to US studios as part of their membership of "the club". So no, it's definitely not KDC.

I've had a couple of stalkers for a while because of some posts made in these forums. One of them might be behind this, but as they're both rather pathetic, I doubt it. It's more likely that I'm just on a list of NZ email addresses being sold to scammers. Besides, at least on of those malware emails was addressed to an admin address at this site.
